Dermatology Roundup: New Regimen and Label Expansion in Inflammatory Skin Disease Treatments

By June 22, 2026No Comments

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) recently adopted changes to the approvals of two medications for inflammatory skin diseases. Ebglyss (lebrikizumab-lbkz) has a newly approved regimen of one maintenance dose every eight weeks of a single injection (250mg/2mL) in adults and children 12 years of age and older with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis and who weigh at least 88 pounds. In addition, starting with prescription topicals is no longer required.

“This new dosing regimen without mandatory topicals gives patients a new option to manage their condition based on individual needs. It’s about meeting patients where they are in their lives,” says Peter Lio, MD, clinical assistant professor of dermatology and pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

In addition, the FDA expanded the label of Tremfya (guselkumab) to note the inhibition of progression of structural joint damage in adults with active psoriatic arthritis. Tremfya is now the only IL-23 inhibitor proven to help stop further structural damage.

“Joint damage associated with active psoriatic arthritis can happen as soon as six months afteronset of disease, so it's important to have treatment solutions that can help provide daily symptom relief while also protecting joints from long-term structural damage” said Philip J. Mease, MD, clinical professor at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Applications are open for the new UCB Hidradenitis Suppurativa Scholarship Program, designed to support adults age 18 and older living with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), and their immediate family members. UCB will award up to 11 scholarships for education and career development, such as undergraduate or graduate studies and trade school. “This community is made up of people who are resilient, inspired, and incredibly driven” said Rhonda Peebles, UCB head of U.S. dermatology. "With the UCB Hidradenitis Suppurativa Scholarship Program, we are proud to be investing in the goals of people living with HS and their families, and opening up opportunities when they may have needed to prioritize navigating the challenges of HS over their education or career.”

Applications close September 1.
