Since 1922, the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Department of Dermatology has enjoyed a rich tradition of leadership and innovation in cutaneous medicine. Our current team of 20 clinical faculty members, 4 research scientists, and 13 residents serve a population of over 5 million people throughout Oregon, Southwest Washington, and beyond. Located in the beautiful city of Portland, we have an excellent learning environment for resident education as a stand-alone institution.

Unique aspects of our program that shape outstanding resident experiences include:

Expert teaching in dermatology sub-specialties Currently, we have 3 dermatopathologists, 2 pediatric dermatologists, and 2 procedural dermatologists on our faculty. Our team of medical dermatologists includes experts in psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, immunobullous disease, transplant dermatology, HIV dermatology, and hair and nail disorders. Specialty clinics are offered in many of these areas.

A friendly and collegial atmosphere!

All faculty members are actively engaged in resident teaching. Residents foster a "team-player" spirit and balance a rigorous residency with recreational pursuits. We also maintain a close relationship with our basic science department in which we hold monthly translational journal clubs. Residents actively participate in clinical and basic science research projects of their choice.
