Calciphylaxis
Calciphylaxis, often associated with end-stage renal disease, manifests as intractable and painful ulcerating, eschartic dermal plaques, and afflicts patients with a high burden of co-morbidity. Involved areas are often subject and susceptible to severe infection. Note the appearance of violaceous retiform patches on all skin tones, with a predilection for more brown/black coloring on darker skin tones.
