Abstract

INTRODUCTION

Diagnosing tongue and mouth problems can be challenging especially when starting dermatology. Many of the diagnoses are simple such as geographic tongue and Fordyce spot requiring little studying to become familiar. However, the recognition and work up of complex intraoral conditions including those that represent internal illness is complicated. Here we have provided a comprehensive list of tongue and mouth troubles that is helpful for board preparation as well as seeing patients. Residents will often refer to these charts when seeing difficult intraoral cases for inspiration on differential diagnosis and treatment.
