JDD Senior Editor Neil Sadick MD is a dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon. He is currently on the
executive board of the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS) and has served on the
board of the ASDS. He is also Vice Chairman for the Dermatology Foundation.
JDD: What has been your favorite aspect of the JDD?
Dr. Sadick: JDD has been able to present a fresh and dynamic face to the area of clinical and technological studies. In the past, publications often featured studies that do not manifest the latest in the field we work in on a day-to-day basis. We're hungry for knowledge and JDD satisfies that need in an informative manner.

JDD: How have you seen JDD grow over the past decade and do you feel that the articles in the
Journal have improved? Have you seen an increase in the quality of articles over the years?
Dr. Sadick: The content of the Journal provides a great mix of medical dermatology, dermatologic oncology, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic medicine/cosmetic surgery. I am interested in all these subject areas, so I tend to at least scan all the articles. Manuscripts from Europe and other parts of the world provide a different perspective. The many articles on clinical trials and new drugs and devices are especially appreciated.

JDD recognized this change and rose to the challenge. The increase in quality over the years has been stayed and shows no sign of stopping.

JDD: Do you feel that JDD has been beneficial in your practice and your field, and how so?
Dr. Sadick: To be successful in a practice you must recognize that knowledge is key. The ability to learn the latest advances in both surgical and medical therapies and then turn that knowledge into a working protocol makes one feel proud to be in the profession. JDD has that ability to inform, entertain, and educate.

JDD: Do you feel that the distribution of eJDD to 23,000 dermatologists around the world is a
good initiative?
Dr. Sadick: When you distribute to over 23,000 dermatologists around the world it means your voice is heard. Those 23,000 colleagues are able to digest experiences that are directly meaningful to them and as a result, clinical advances are globally united.

JDD: What would you like to see more of?
Dr. Sadick: One suggestion I have for a better quality publication is the inclusion of theme-based supplements in the future. The cluster of articles often leads to a total immersion in the subject. It stimulates the brain and sometimes is the genesis for a better solution. It's a thought-starter and we need more of that to occur.
