Truly, in 2012, we will be celebrating 10 years of publishing excellence. As you may know, we've
been indexed in MEDLINE®/PubMed® since Volume 1, Issue 1. Now, we are pleased to report that
the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology (JDD) has received its first-ever Impact Factor Ranking by
Journal Citation Reports,® the journal-ranking system hosted by Thomson Reuters.
JDD's 1.954 ranking firmly establishes JDD as a leading journal in the field. Impact Factor rankings determine
the number of times in a year journal articles from a specific publication are cited by researchers,
clinicians, academicians, and others in a given field of study.
Impact Factors are a leading indicator of the readership and importance of a journal in the eyes of medical
specialists, authors, academics, and acquisition librarians who maintain scientific publications in their science
and social science collections. JDD's favorable ranking is a validation of the journal's importance in
the field and an opportunity to build on existing relationships with the journal's core audience of medical
practitioners, as well as health and medical institutions worldwide.
Finally, the JDD International Alliance continues to grow, providing complimentary access to JDD through renowned
dermatologic societies across the globe. As a result, JDD is now connected to 25,000 dermatologists
practicing worldwide in the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, the Caribbean, Chile, Colombia, Thailand,
India, Indonesia, Mexico, Paraguay, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, and Tunisia.
We are probably one of the few journals that extends its readership to such a large international audience,
and hopefully we will double this figure in the next year. It is extraordinary that the authors published in
JDD now have an opportunity for their articles to be read throughout the world.
It is an exciting time for the journal!
