These soft or firm nevi can present in several colors from deeply pigmented in darker skin tones to skin-colored in lighter tones, as seen here. Additionally, even in lighter skin tones the lesion may present with increased melanin compared to the overall complexion of the individual. It is not uncommon for hair to grow within these lesions, which can be a potential marker for the benign nature of this neoplasm.
