Pyoderma Gangrenosum:
The violaceous rim in pyoderma gangrenosum is sometimes confused as purpura, which suggests a possible vasculitic process in patients with dark skin tones. This contributes to the classic misdiagnosis of the disease. Note that once the ulcerations are healed, patients might develop hyper- or hypopigmented scarring.
