Keloid tumors are secondary to trauma and a common location is the earlobe due to piercing, as seen here. Their dumbbell shape and growth outside the original margins of the scar differentiate keloids from hypertrophic scars in all skin tones. Pruritus can be a sign of active growth indicating treatment, as lesion color can be variable.
