JDD’s recent article titled “NECASA I: A Practical Algorithm Integrating Skincare in the Management of Acne Patients in the Nordic European Countries” introduces the Nordic European Countries Acne Skincare Algorithm (NECASA), a practical guide developed by a panel of dermatologists to enhance acne treatment outcomes. The NECASA algorithm integrates skincare into acne regimens, addressing the common adverse effects like erythema, pruritus, and xerosis that often lead to treatment nonadherence. By stratifying acne by subtype and severity, the algorithm provides tailored recommendations for both monotherapy and adjunctive skincare, highlighting its role in reducing lesions, maintaining clearance, and improving skin barrier function. This approach aims to improve patient adherence, treatment tolerability, and overall outcomes in acne management.
