In this JDD article titled: Evaluation of Pericardial Effusions in Alopecia Patients on Low-Dose Oral Minoxidil Therapy, new research sheds light on low-dose oral minoxidil (LDOM) use for alopecia, showing no increased risk of pericardial effusions in a small study. Point-of-care ultrasounds revealed comparable rates of small, asymptomatic effusions in both LDOM patients and controls. While promising, further studies are needed to confirm long-term safety.
