Moisturizer and Microbiome: A New Approach to AD Management?
Staphylococcus aureus colonization is linked to atopic dermatitis (AD), but could topical skincare help restore balance? A moisturizer containing colloidal oatmeal and patented filaggrin technology was tested for its effects on bacterial growth and adhesion. Results suggest a shift from pathogenic S. aureus to commensal S. epidermidis, potentially offering a new avenue for AD management.
