JDD Article Highlight

A new JDD article study highlights the efficacy and safety of a 2.6% benzoyl peroxide (BPO) cleanser for treating mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris (AV)in adults with sensitive skin. The open-label, 4-week trial showed a significant reduction in total lesion counts by week 1 and continued improvement through week 4. Porphyrin counts also dropped significantly, indicating reduced acne-causing bacteria. Importantly, this BPO cleanser was well tolerated, with no significant increase in adverse events and high patient satisfaction reported. This study supports the use of lower-concentration BPO for effective, gentle AV management.
