Published early online in August, the JDD article titled “Dermatologic Procedures for the Treatment of Seborrheic Dermatitis” reviews alternative dermatologic procedures for treating Seborrheic Dermatitis (SD), offering clinicians expanded options and highlighting the need for further research. The study analyzed nine procedural interventions, including phototherapy, laser therapy, and botulinum toxin injections. Results show promising efficacy in small patient cohorts, with therapies like hair growth factor treatment demonstrating long-term benefits. However, challenges such as cost, variable effectiveness, and limited data on long-term safety remain. This paper underscores the potential of these procedures to improve patient compliance and calls for more standardized research to evaluate their long-term outcomes.
