Abstract
Today we are fortunate that Residents, Fellows, and Practitioners are finding new opportunities at improving their skill and knowledge of dermatologic surgery. Not long ago, training in dermatologic surgery was hard to come by. There were very few training programs in Mohs surgery and only random courses on flaps and grafts. The American Academy of Dermatology limited the amount of time allocated toward teaching dermatologic surgery at their annual meetings.
We are so pleased to inform you that today, the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ISDS) have now instituted a major Preceptorship Program to help dermatologists learn and improve their skills in dermatologic surgery. This program is currently open to all dermatologists and allows participants to learn from leading experts in the field. The preceptorships will be one-week and participants can choose the sub-field of their choice including liposuction, lipo-augmentation and lipolysis, dermal filler, vein surgery, skin cancer surgery, flaps and grafts, laser surgery, photodynamic therapy, radiofrequency therapy, dermoscopy, and nail surgery. There will be a nominal fee to participate.
To learn more about this program and details, please logon to the ISDS website at http://www.isdsworld.com and click on Preceptorships. Here you will have an opportunity to see the physicians' offerings and read a brief description of what you will be able to experience by spending one week with an expert in dermatologic surgery.
We also recommend attending the ISDS Annual Meeting, which will be held in Lucerne, Switzerland from October 18-20, 2012.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Silvia Becker at the ISDS (info@isdsworld.de).
